Genesis 8:22 - While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
Prior to the Flood there was no rain (Genesis 2:5-6) and probably a shroud of water vapor surrounding the earth (note at 7:11), filtering sunlight. After the Flood we have the four seasons now familiar to us. Further, we have a promise that this climate system will endure until the earth is destroyed. Environmentalism must be viewed with this promise in mind.

The LORD Shut Him In
Genesis 7:16 - Noah could have shut the door of the ark, but the Bible tells us the LORD shut the door of the ark, not Noah. See the following:
1) Noah was not the one to shut out all those outside the ark. God condemned them and shut them out. God spared Noah the responsibility or conscience for their condemnation. Noah had preached righteousness to them for 120 years and so his conscience was clear of them. Likewise, we are not responsible for condemning those who are shut out of heaven. God shut them out, based on their rejection of Him.
2) Noah was not the one to shut in all those inside the ark. The ark pictures salvation from God's judgment. No man can place another inside, nor even himself. God alone seals them in, John 10:27-30; I Peter 1:5, etc.
3) The LORD still shuts the door on salvation opportunity. At death (Hebrews 9:27). At the Rapture for those who have heard and consciously rejected Him (II Thessalonians 2:10-12). To those who have continued deeper into wickedness, suppressing the knowledge of God (Romans 1:18-32). See the door shut, Matthew 25:10; Luke 13:25; John 10:1. Who is the door? John 10:9.
4) When the LORD opens or shuts: Job 12:14; Isaiah 22:22; Revelation 3:7-8.

Notes in the Seventh Chapter of Genesis
Genesis 7:11 - In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
"Fountains of the great deep" - See Psalm 33:7. Not simply rain produced the Flood, but seismic activity releasing massive underground water. The entire landscape would be significantly changed as a result.
"The windows of heaven" - Hebrew means lattice-work, network, interweaving. And so the canopy of mist shrouding the earth was piereced.

Notes in the Sixth Chapter of Genesis
Note on Genesis 6:1-4 - The two most common suggestions for answering who are the sons of God are either (a) fallen angels who took human wives (perhaps the reason for their fall), producing giants; or (b) the men of the "godly line" of Seth marrying into the "wicked line" of Cain. Neither suggestion answers all our questions and both have various inconsistencies. Let us be content to let this be one of those "secret things" that "belong unto the LORD" (Deuteronomy 29:29).
Genesis 6:21 - And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.
Notice that right up to the Flood, all animals still had the same vegetarian diet as man. See Genesis 1:29-30, and notes there. Animals are given the instinctive fear of man when man is given permission to eat meat, Genesis 9:1-4. It is not stated when some animals began eating others, but we may infer it was also right after the Flood.
